Improving the Work Atmosphere for

Robert Thompson Garages

Extraction Solutions recently provided a bespoke fume extraction system for the painting and finishing of alloy wheels at Robert Thompson Garages. We consulted with the client and amended the design to ensure that the booth didn’t prevent access around the wheel, but was also small enough to fit into the limited space available.

We fitted a rotating table into the booth to allow easy movement of the product, and added tapered side panels to improve access, we also installed a bespoke filter window in the wall to allow clean dust free air to enter the room.

The filter media at the rear of the booth is installed without any fixings allowing replacements to be fitted quickly and easily. The booth is ducted to the external fan using our modular QF duct system, allowing the booth to be quickly moved if necessary. The high efficiency fan is ATEX compliant suitable for handling the potentially flammable fumes.

The new solution is a vast improvement to previous control measures allowing others to work in the area without the need of PPE. ‘I used to have to keep my mask on after spraying the wheels but now I can remove is straight away’.
